Gabby Lewis memorial library.

This week Fundamaya was very happy to host students from the Universidad del Valle Altiplano have started a qualitative research process in the community of Tierra Linda, Sololá. Aimed at students from the INEB Telesecundaria Tierra Linda, Sacsiguan Sololá.


Said initiation of the investigation was carried out in the presence of the Community Mayor Mr. Agustín Chalcú, the Cocode body chaired by Mr. Roberto Cojtín Chiroy, representatives of the Board of Directors of parents, teachers of the Telesecundaria, 10 outstanding students of the Telesecundario and Fundamaya Collaborators.


The general objective of this research is to deliver a project to the Gabby Lewis Library that strengthens the educational process of the students of the Tierra Linda Telesecundaria, the project will be determined according to the result of the investigation, which will reflect the main needs of the students.


The Gabby Lewis Memorial Library was founded in loving memory of Gabby Lewis by her parents and friends. Gabby was adopted from Guatemala when she was a baby and had a loving and wonderful life with her parents, Becky and Shane Lewis, and her brother, Tucker.

Tragically, Gabby lost her life when she was just 8 years old in a car accident.





The Gabby Lewis Memorial Library supported by Fundamaya provides access to books, computers and activities in the remote village of Tierra Linda in the Highlands of Guatemala.


The students were presented with educational supplies.

Fundamaya staff presented Calendars and other supplies to the students.

At Fundamaya we feel it is very important to take time to talk to the parents and to be involved with the community. We are grateful for the participation of the community of Tierra LInda. The gentleman in this photo is the Indigenous Mayor of Tierra Linda,Mr. Agustín Chalcú, He is carrying the traditional staff carried by all Indigenous Mayors.
